Lexi

How did you come to live with your current family?

Mom really wanted a lab puppy and spent months talking about it with dad. Once dad was on board, mom did some research and found Sunnydaze Labradors. I was born three days before mom and dad’s first wedding anniversary so mom knew it was meant to be! I came home to live with mom and dad in October of 2008. I slept all afternoon and all through the night. Going to a new home was exhausting!

What Silly or Little known facts should we know about you?

I have a Pavlovian response to the alarm clock. Alarm clock=breakfast time! When the alarm sounds I LAUNCH out of bed and pace around the bedroom until mom or dad finally give in and get up to feed me. Also, even though I’m a lab, I’m not much of a swimmer. I like to “dip” in the water and splash around, but I prefer to keep all four paws on the ground!

Besides Day Care… what do you love?

Walks: Mom sometimes says that I am part hound because I have to sniff EVERYTHING when we walk! I get lots of attention from other people and dogs on my walks, which I attribute to my “runway model sashay”. Water (except for swimming): I use my nose and paws to dump out ALL of the water in my outside water bowl and nothing beats my kiddie pool on a hot day! Dad: I adore my dad (mom’s cool too, but I’m definitely a daddy’s girl)! After breakfast I sprint to the bedroom, jump on the bed and give my dad lots of kisses.

What are your favorite toys or games?

My favorite toy is my squeaky ducky I’ve had since my very first day with mom and dad. As for games, I’m not much for fetch. I’ll fetch maybe four times before I give up. However, I do love being chased. I’ll pick up dad’s socks and run around the dining room table while mom or dad chase me.

If you had a major in college…what would it be?

Psychology. I’d like to learn about doggie neuroses like mine (I used to have a fear of bridges and jumping into the car). More importantly I’d love to figure out the feline mind. Sometimes my cat sisters curl up next to me on the couch and other times they hiss at me for NO reason (Why is a paw on the back such a big deal?).

If you wrote a personal ad… what would it say?

Dark furred beauty with soulful brown eyes seeks playful friend who doesn’t mind letting me be in charge. Must enjoy running circles in the yard, chewing on sticks and spooning after a long day of playing.

Other information we should know about you?

I love fruits and veggies! This year when mom planted some veggies, I stole an entire head of baby lettuce when she wasn’t paying attention. In the fall, I eat all of the apples that fall off of the tree in my yard. I have a love-hate (or maybe hate-hate) relationship with the vacuum cleaner. When someone pulls it out of the closet I bark my most scary bark and try to attack it. As soon as it is turned on I hang out in another room.
