Tenaya

How did you come to live with your current family?

When I was born I was supposed to be a famous show dog, prancing around the ring and looking pretty. But I have a special tail that doesn’t look like other Berner tails, it has a curly queue in it. They called me “Piggy” when I was a baby because of my tail and the grunting/snorting noises I like to make. When my mom and dad came to see me I was the last of my brothers and sisters to be adopted and I thought I might get to live with my breeder parents forever. But my mom and dad liked my tail just the way it was and we went home that day! It snowed that day, I love snow!

What Silly or Little known facts should we know about you?

I am pretty silly in general but I have a few extra silly things I like to do. When it snows enough I like to pretend I am a snow plow and put my head down and push as much snow around as possible. My paws are very large and excellent for keeping me on top of the snow, some say I have built in snowshoes. One little known fact about me is that I can swim. Yes, I am big and BMD’s (Bernese Mountain Dog’s) aren’t known for swimming but my mom and dad got me swim lessons at Lap of Luxury and now I love swimming, my dad tells me it is good for my elbows.

Besides Day Care… what do you love?

Bacon! I also love people, especially ones that give me treats and/or cuddles. I love my cats, and I love to herd my cats. I love the mountains and hiking and skiing with my dad in them, that is where my great-great-grandparents lived, played and worked. I love snow, is it cold enough to snow yet? I love all my friends at TAW and my other dog friends. Did I mention how much I love BACON!

What are your favorite toys or games?

I like to chew on bones a lot, Nylabones are my favorite. My favorite toys have to squeak. I love to talk to my parents with my squeaky toys. Fast squeaking means I am excited and want to wrestle or play chase, slower more drawn out squeaking means I am content but want more attention. Sometimes I even talk with my cats using my squeaky toys, my cats don’t like my squeaky toys. I am not much of a fetcher but I love a good game of tug of war, my big butt helps me pull very hard, I could probably pull you over if I tried. I am afraid to play with some of my toys. My mom and dad bought me a stuffed pig for Christmas last year but every time I look at it I think it is real so I want to be friends with it instead.

If you had a major in college…what would it be?

I would be a nurse if I went to school. I love to help people and hate to see others in pain. I help people relax when they look into my big brown eyes and pet my head. I like having my head pet. I may not be the smartest dog in the class but I will do anything for food/treats so as long as there is a good supply of treats I will graduate.

If you wrote a personal ad… what would it say?

Want to be friends ? I do ! Big goofy SBMD (Single Bernese Mountain Dog) wants to wrestle with you, no fast runners please! Looking for other SFD’s (Single Friendly Dogs) to go on adventures in the mountains with me, must like snow. Must enjoy cooler climates, I hate it when it gets above 65 degrees, it makes me pant. SHJWD (Short Haired Jacket Wearing Dogs) are okay too.

Other information we should know about you?

I am a lapdog, I know what you are thinking, Tenaya is too big to be a lapdog but you are wrong. I fit quite nicely on the couch on my dad’s lap, that way no one else can get on the couch and I can keep him to myself.
