Pet of the Month.

Zoey Pr March 2020

How did you come to live with your current family?

I started life in the big state of Texas, where no one wanted me. After waiting at a shelter for awhile, and still no one wanted me, I was shipped off to try my luck at a shelter in New York. Finally, a family took me home. But let’s be real, skeptical Border Collie + NYC concrete jungle is not a recipe for success. At 9 months old, I was given to a rescue group in Oregon called Herd U Needed a Home, who posted nice photos of me on Facebook. My people have been patiently waiting for an adventurous dog like me and couldn’t wait to meet me after seeing my pictures. On Thanksgiving Day 2017, I moved to beautiful Bellingham, Washington, where there are mountains, lakes, and the ocean – it was love at first bark! Now I get to run in the forest, swim in the lake, and do zoomies on the beach!

What Silly or Little known facts should we know about you?

I take my dad’s pillow off the bed every morning, run downstairs, and shake it real good. He likes it fluffed.

Besides Day Care… what do you love?

Fetch, tug, mountain biking, fetch, trail running, fetch, swimming, wildlife viewing/stalking, whipped cream (I love all dairy products), sleeping in. Did I mention fetch? Oh! My parents don’t eat meat, but they sometimes bring me rotisserie chicken from the grocery store deli. I know right away when they get home and find it in the shopping bag – it’s the best!

What are your favorite toys or games?

Games: Fetch with my ball, tug, food puzzles, find it/hide and seek, doing tricks for treats.

Toys: Ball, something from the dirty laundry hamper, stuffed animals in various stages of disrepair.

If you had a major in college…what would it be?

Professional Skepticism.

If you wrote a personal ad… what would it say?

Wanna take a mud bath with me? Dirty and flirty Border Collie dream girl looking for a new friend. I might even share my ball if you don’t mind a little slobber. Looking for a companion who enjoys playing outside, good conversations (I’m a great listener – just look at the size of my ears!), and has endurance and enthusiasm for extended games of tug.

Other information we should know about you?

To all the wonderful staff at Tails – thank you for playing with me, I love you guys!
