She/Her

Hello! I grew up in the greater Seattle area and I’ve loved animals of all sorts since I was a child, but most especially dogs. I have always wanted a career working with animals, and I used to want to be a veterinarian, but quickly realized that I can’t stand to see animals or their humans in distress. I’m elated to have found such an incredible place to work with dogs in an environment where I can focus on keeping them happy and entertained throughout the day! My husband and I just adopted a young puppy of our own and I cannot wait to raise her into our little adventure buddy. Outside of work I love to go for hikes and spend time in nature, play D&D with my friends, attend trivia night at least once a week, and just spend time with my dog!

anthony

(daycare attendant, daycare lead)

He/Him

Anthony is a Bellingham native always sporting a wide smile and a can do attitude. Growing up Anthony was almost always surrounded by dogs, either his own or taking care of the neighborhood dogs. Through high school Anthony was able to volunteer at the Whatcom Humane Society which further fueled his passion of working with dogs. Leaving his last job to pursue this passion, Anthony couldn’t be happier now at Tails where he is surrounded by amazing coworkers who share his enthusiasm as well as all the smiling dogs and their personalities. Also a huge lover of golden retrievers for their loving and goofy attitudes and you’ll almost always find one by his side. If not spending time with the pups, you can find Anthony enjoying the lake, hiking, or catching up on sleep. Anthony has high hopes of raising his own golden retriever soon, bringing even more smiles to Tails!

She/Her  They/Them

Did somebody say mush? Always a dog enthusiast, Charley fell in love with dryland mushing after looking for ways to exercise the family husky. Since then they have always been surrounded in life by all things dog. You can often find them being pulled around by their sled dog duo, Hiccup and Roxy. You could say they have a type: big, fluffy, and full of attitude. If not accompanied by their dogs you may find them practicing in a local symphony, or enjoying beautiful downtown Bellingham. Always feeling like their old job was missing something, they finally realized it was time to take their love of dogs into their career. Excited to join the team at TAW, they can’t wait to learn everything there is about our furry friends.

devan

(daycare attendant, front desk)

He/Him

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Devan has always had a strong connection to nature and the outdoors. He knew from a very young age that conservation of our natural resources was crucial in order to preserve the beautiful world that we live in for generations to come. He is currently an engineering student at Whatcom Community College, with hopes to focus his career on sustainable clean energy.

Growing up, there was never a time that he didn’t have a dog (or two!). He has a soft spot for stigmatized bully breeds and has a Pitbull mix of his own named Duck. He lives in Nooksack with his wife Summer and hopes to spend the rest of his life in the beautiful state of Washington!

emma

(daycare attendant, inventory manager)

She/Her

A 3rd generation Bellingham native, Emma grew up with animals always a part of the family. Her love of dogs comes from her Aunt, a professional dog trainer in California who also raised therapy dogs to bring to hospitals and senior communities. Through this, she taught Emma how valuable dogs were to us, humans. Emma is eager to join the Tails-A-Wagging team, and follow her passion for helping animals and humans, like her Aunt.

She/Her They/Them

Hey there! I’m Iris, still fairly new to Bellingham but I love it so far! I enjoy spending time outside, crafting, discovering new music and exploring more of the city. My story with animals started when I was put on a pony at the age of four, I quickly realized I was in love with horses and the other animals that could be found on the farm. I always found a way to be around animals no matter how many times I moved. They were my constant. When I moved to Anacortes I got my first job as an riding instructor at the very farm where I discovered my passion for animals! During my senior year of high school, I took a year long course and became certified in Veterinary Assisting. It was difficult to find a job in the veterinary field, as covid had just come on to the scene. So I ended up settling for odd jobs like pizza joints and construction, all while still looking for something that entailed animals. I was determined to put my knowledge to use. In Summer 2021 I moved to Bellingham looking to further my education by attending Bellingham Technical College to earn my Veterinary Technician License. Covid ended up putting most courses online so I started looking for a full time job and found Tails-A-Wagging. A wonderful, fun job where I am able to use what I already know, and learn more about dogs specifically, which will one day help me in the veterinary field.

kelsey

(assistant manager, daycare attendant)

She/Her

Kelsey is a Bellingham native and has been a dog lover for as long as she can remember! She grew up always having Lab/Retriever mixes and will always have a soft spot for them. She was a Veterinary Assistant here in town for five years and also worked at a couple of Doggie Daycares in Portland, OR. She has been petsitting for over ten years and loves any chance she can get to be around dogs. She loves to hike and takes advantage of any opportunity to get outside to soak in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.  She also loves to travel and experience new places and cultures. She is happiest when she’s around dogs so working at Tails has been a wonderful opportunity to spend time with pups and learn so much more about their behavior and positive reward training.  Ask her about her wonderful pooch Rudy!

Her/She

I just moved to Bellingham during the pandemic and have lived in Portland Oregon, Victoria British Columbia, and Montreal Quebec. I just completed my Biology and Computer Science degree at McGill and I’m starting a Communication Sciences and disorders degree at Western in the Fall. I grew up with herding breeds my whole life and currently have a 6 month blue heeler mix name Monty. My free time now is mostly spent with Monty but in normal times I enjoy finding new food spots, weightlifting, and roadtrips. I have always adored dogs and love training them; I am so happy to get the opportunity to do this as a job!

pat

(daycare attendant)

He/Him

Patrick has always loved the company of dogs. Growing up in NY state, his mom rescued retired racing greyhounds, and his dad always adopted mixed breeds from local shelters. When he left home and moved to Vermont for school, he got his first job in the canine care industry working at a dog daycare and training facility. Patrick quickly discovered his love for working professionally with dogs, and has continued to learn and pursue this passion for the past 6 years. He loves caring for dogs of all ages, breeds and sizes. One breed that has a special place in Patrick’s heart is pitbulls; a deep love and appreciation of the breed developed from working at a pitbull rescue in Vermont. In summer 2020 Patrick moved to the Pacific Northwest and brought with him his love for dogs. He is grateful to be a part of the Tails-A-Wagging family and to continue pursuing his passion for working with dogs.

riley

(daycare attendant, daycare lead)

She/Her

Riley grew up on acres of land that were just begging to house every furry, feathered, or scaled friend imaginable. As soon as she was old enough to have a say, inviting animals into her home was her favorite hobby; much to her parents dismay. Through all that excitement, she was never seen without a dog by her side. Whether that means, teaching her own pets every party trick in the book, or being the one person at the party who hangs out with the dogs more than the people. She’s excited to be a part of the Tails-A-Wagging team to further expand her knowledge on canine body language, training, and care and loves each and every dog in their own special way!

rory

(daycare attendant)

She/Her

Rory moved to Bellingham from Lebanon, Oregon where she grew up and attended high school. She has been surrounded by dogs and other animals all her life, at her home and at her friends. As a result, she grew to love them and wanted to work with them as an adult. She has worked with animal shelters and organizations like the SafeHaven Humane Society and Shake and Shine. She has a dog of her own named TigerLilly who is a blue healer mix, tuxedo cat named Zero and a black corn snake named Snakey, who is as long as she is tall. Rory is a big Disney and Studio Ghibli fan but an even bigger animal lover.

sarah

(daycare attendant, front desk)

She/Her

Animals have always been a part of Sarah’s life and dogs have certainly played a central role. She has always had a soft spot for rescues and has had three dogs from shelters, a re-homed snake, and a previously abandoned pet mouse. Growing up in the PNW, she developed a strong desire to learn more about how people interact with their local flora and fauna. This led Sarah to earning her BA from Western Washington University studying anthropology and environmental studies. She has had the opportunity to work with a large variety of animals and enjoys any form of education on the subject that she can get her hands on. She is so happy to be working at TAW where her love for dogs can grow even more!

zeta

(daycare attendant)

They/Them She/Her

Hello! I’m Zeta/Xea, a non-binary, animal loving human, from Anchorage, Alaska. I grew up there for 18 years exploring nature, climbing mountains, and expanding my mind before I spontaneously moved to Bellingham! In my free time you can catch me hanging out with the many animals I take care of with my girlfriend, making delicious vegan meals, or enjoying the sounds of nature. I’m a bit obsessed with rocks; I love stacking, skipping, and climbing rocks! I also love learning, specifically about philosophy, marine biology, speculative evolution, and things of high strangeness. In life, I take an intuative, loving, and gentle approach with how I connect to people, animals, and nature.
