Ruff Around the Edges

This basic manners class is designed to provide dogs (and their people) with a solid foundation in house manners and basic training.

Ruff Around the Edges

This class is for dogs 6 months of age and older. Skills such as “sit”, “down” and “come” as well as the ability to walk politely on a leash, will be the primary focus in the class. We will also introduce clicker training in this class. We will discuss proper games to play, keeping your dog from jumping up, healthy eating habits, stress-free grooming, toenail clipping, and separation anxiety. The class runs for 6 weeks.

The initial 30 minutes of the first class is a lecture without dogs (they can wait in the car or in one of our crates inside Tails-A-Wagging) where learning theory, training methods, and equipment will be discussed. Dogs will join in for the last half of class and fully participate in all other classes.

Class Rules.

All dogs signed up for any of our obedience classes are required to be current on their vaccines, including DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies.

DHPP, is a combination vaccine, it protects your dog from Distemper, Hepatitis, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus. Bordetella guards your dog against Kennel Cough, a highly contagious air borne virus in dogs. Rabies is a fatal disease in mammals and is required by law for all dogs. You will be required to show written proof of vaccines prior to the first class.

All puppies are to be as current as they can be, for their age, on their vaccines. This means puppies do not have to be completed on their vaccine series, just as far along as they can be.

We accept vaccines given by your veterinarian only, no final vaccines given by a breeder or owner-administered vaccines will be accepted.
