Pet of the Month.

Millie Ho November 2023

How did you come to live with your current family?
Somebody found me all alone on the streets of Houston, but I don’t remember how I got there. I went to a rescue and they gave me medicine for worms, mange and other parasites. I wasn’t quite ready for the trip to Washington, but the rescue thought I should go or else I would get too old and no one would adopt me. I was surrounded by silly little puppies jumping all around, but I was really nervous and quiet. When my mom saw me, she said she loved me right away. She thought my tail was broken because it just hung straight down for days. But after a couple of weeks and lots of cuddles, it started to wag!

What Silly or Little-known facts should we know about you?
I can run fast, like really, really fast. When I run at the dog park, all the humans just stop and watch me. I might show off – just a little bit.

Besides Day Care… what do you love?
Walkies of course. I like sniff walks when my human lets me take my time and smell all the things. I like forest trails the best.

What are your favorite toys or games?
I go bonkers for a squeaky toy.

For enrichment, what do you prefer? food, scent, movement? something else?
Something with all three! Sometimes my mom hides treats in funny places and I have to sniff them out. I also like puzzles, especially if they involve hidden peanut butter.

If you had a major in college…what would it be?

Etymology would be my choice – bugs are so fascinating. But my mom says if I really apply myself and work hard on my manners, I could be a support dog. She says I make people feel better with my snuggles and calm energy.

If you wrote a personal ad… what would it say?

I may seem nervous and shy but I am a real adventurer once you get to know me! I can be a bit moody, but if you are patient and stick around, I promise I will give you the best snuggles you’ve ever had. And not to brag, but I have really long, strong legs and super silky ears.

Describe your perfect day.

Sleep in. Perimeter check of my yard. Find sunny spot for mid-morning nap. Walkies around the neighborhood. Frozen peanut butter Kong. Another nap. Chase at the park. Dinner. Snuggles. Sleep.

We know your real name is, but what are some of your nicknames?
Millsies, Millsers, Sweetsies, Mill-Mill, and Mill-Pill when I am in trouble.

What was your favorite trip you’ve taken?

I’m a well-traveled pup! Good thing I like car rides.  I’m only 2.5 but I have been to 23 states. I love road trips!

Do you have a best dog friend? At Tails or outside of Tails

My besties are Rosie and Betty – they are sweet girls like me but we like to play rough when we get together!

Are you a morning dog or a night owl?

I like to sleep – a lot. Morning, noon or night. As long as I can run around and get some walkies, I can sleep the day away!

Peanut butter or whipped cream?

Peanut butter for sure

Ball or stick?

Neither. But I will steal either one if it gets another dog to chase me!

What’s the stinkiest thing you have ever rolled in?

Roll in what? Please. That’s not for me – I like to stay clean.

Where is your favorite place to sleep? (and no, you won’t get in trouble if you say your Hoomon’s Bed)

I prefer the couch this time of year – but only if I have a pillow. When the sun is out, I love to find a corner of the yard to soak up some rays.

Other information we should know about you?

I really love my family at Tails a Wagging! They always give me treats and cuddles and never make fun of me when I am scared of new things.
