Pet of the Month.

Phoebe October 2017

Phoebe

How did you come to live with your current family?I was adopted as a Puppy by my people from a breeder in the Spokane area. I had to travel a long way to finally meet them. They tell me that they were really lucky as they were the last to get to select their puppy from my litter, but I was actually the puppy that they had wanted all along. So I guess it goes to show you, it pays to be last. I joined the pet crew that was comprised of my new sister Lucy. She had been with our people for 9 years before I joined in. She is much older than me and likes to spend most of her days sleeping and laying in the sun. I can run and get exercise for her, while she rests and watches me run . . . . we make a great team.

What Silly or Little known facts should we know about you?
I love to chew on socks. I also like to dig holes in my people’s yard, which I think they really appreciate!

Besides Day Care… what do you love?

I like to take my people for walks, but even more I love to take them hiking. When we go hiking I get to take off my leash and lead my people. Lucky for them, I am able to show them the proper way. Finding the right way can be challenging at times. Fortunately, my people know how to read those funny looking signs and remind me of the proper way. I also find myself having to turn around at times and catch back up to lead them. Not to mention the rabbits and squirrels that constantly cause me to be distracted from the known path. But in the end, I am the leader and always the first one back to the car. Except for those occasions where I end up in the lake chasing that wild stick.

What are your favorite toys or games?

My favorite game is playing throw with my people. I bring my people the ball and they throw it. Then I go get it and bring it back to them. They throw the ball again, and then I have to go get it again. This goes on until I tire out their arm. My people can get tired very quickly. Once we finish playing throw I bring my ball inside to play “under the coffee table”. This is a great game in which I purposely get the ball stuck under the coffee table. I then bark and scratch at it until my people get the ball out and usually throw it out into the yard for me, which is totally strange being that they had tired themselves out playing throw. After I get the ball I stick it under the coffee table again, bark and scratch until they get it again. My people love this game too, as they continue to tell me “Phoebe, Don’t!” and “Phoebe, Stop!!” Well everyone in the nation knows that this means “Phoebe, Don’t Stop!!!!” Have to love my people.

If you had a major in college…what would it be?My major would obviously be in security. I am a pro at letting my people know when something is approaching the house. Whether a stranger, a friend of theirs, someone from my nation, the wind, or even my people themselves. I bark and bark to let everyone know that they have arrived. I am a true scholar.

If you wrote a personal ad… what would it say?

I am a typical female dog. I prefer to have my space unless I bark otherwise. If I am chewing on my toys please keep your distance! I don’t really like sharing. I have lots of friends at school and the humans seem to really dig me. I get tired of hearing how cute I am, but there is a bit of truth to this.
I love my life!!
