Pet of the Month.

Rikki April 2013

How did you come to live with your current family?

My previous Person died suddenly, and times were very sad. My new Mom was looking for a new pack member, and had a friend with 2 dogs the same breed as me (one is my half-sister!) and of course loved them. The friend found out about me needing a new home and mentioned me to my new mom, and here I am! Turns out my half-sister and I are complete opposites, but at least we agree on how to stalk birds.

What Silly or Little known facts should we know about you?

I can drag my rear legs behind me, you should see the looks on humans faces when I do it, really cracks me up! They say I am a water dog, but I don’t care much for swimming.

Besides Day Care… what do you love?

People, treats, people, being pet, snoozing, people. Did I say people? I whimper with happiness when I see someone I love that I haven’t seen for a while. Oh, sometimes I go jogging with the family. I am always up for a run in the woods. Did I mention how yummy chicken feed is? I know I know I have food allergies and should stay away from it, but I just have to treat myself even though I get in trouble every time.

What are your favorite toys or games?

I love nose work and can always find a hidden treat. I will play with anything from 7:30-9:00pm, but am not interested in toys any other time of day unless they have food hidden inside. Sometimes Nancy swings her arms around, sort of crazy and I let her think she is almost catching me. She really likes that. Plus, I get to run zoomies all around her. It’s so cute when I do that.

If you had a major in college…what would it be?

I went through a bit of a breakdown when my former Person died, so I am very curious about how brains works. I would be a psychology major, and probably become a psychiatrist and help other pups going through hard times. Or maybe Spa-ology. I sure enjoy the whole “get ready for the show” process. I think they should teach zoomies in college. They are just so fun!

If you wrote a personal ad… what would it say? If you bring a human who pets me I will be yours forever. Just don’t ever ever leave me alone. Enjoy pretending I don’t notice your invitations to play, but secretly hope to partake in normal dog play activities…someday. Mature show girl looking for long walks on the beach and a snooze in the sun.

Other information we should know about you?

I don’t let on, but I get very worried if I am left by myself. So thank goodness for Tails-a-wagging, where I don’t ever have to be alone. I’m so grateful to have some buddies around even if I don’t cuddle or play with them.
