Pets Name – Gus V

How did you come to live with your current family?

When their last dog died, a friend of theirs in eastern Washington had puppies who needed homes.  I was one of those puppies, and they wanted a puppy, so it was meant to be!  My dad said that he picked me from the litter because I was the biggest and seemed the most adventurous – I kept running off to explore the pigpen while my brothers and sisters stayed in the yard.  On my ride home with them when I was 7 weeks old, we stopped in Leavenworth where my mom carried me around in her jacket.

What Silly or Little known facts should we know about you?

I like to sleep on my back with my legs sticking straight up in the air.  Sometimes I will sneeze and tip over, and it surprises me and wakes me up.  Also, I’m not supposed to bring sticks or pinecones onto the deck because they make a big mess.  Sometimes when no one is watching, I like to sneak them up onto my bed on the deck (I have an outside bed as well as a downstairs bed and an upstairs bed inside) so I can lay in the sun and chew on them.

Besides Day Care… what do you love?

Sniffing everything, especially all around the back yard in the morning after the neighbor cat wanders through during the night.  I love carrying my mom’s slippers around and snuggling with them; it’s really funny when she cannot find one and walks around with only one slipper.  I love running around in the woods and laying down in mud puddles – I also like to do this because then my mom and dad will take me swimming afterwards to wash off, and I really love swimming.  I also love getting lots of pets and giving lots of kisses.

What are your favorite toys or games?

My favorite toy is a stuffed chicken, although I chewed off its legs and have played with it a lot, so now it looks more like a dirty yellow ball with a beak.  I think it is also my human baby sister’s favorite toy now too.  When I leave it laying around she likes to crawl over to it, and she would rather play with my chicken than her own toys.  I don’t mind sharing though.  I also love to swim after my floating duck butt toy in the lake.  My mom or dad will throw it for me over and over so that I can swim after it, but sometimes I get so excited that I just like to swim or run around with it instead of taking it back to them.

If you had a major in college…what would it be?

Sniffology.  I would also be on the swim team.

If you wrote a personal ad… what would it say?

Handsome, easy-going Golden looking for a companion to share adventures and wag tails together.  Must enjoy running through the woods, swimming, and playing in the snow.  I hope to enjoy snuggles in the back of the car or in front of the fire after a long day of playing together.  Jealous types need not reply, because I love everyone.

Other information we should know about you?

I have never been allowed to eat human food until recently.  It’s always been the same boring kibble, except I get treats as rewards for doing good things and at Tails-A-Wagging.  Now my human baby sister eats at a high chair and makes a big mess.  I have to stay on my bed while she is eating, but then when she is done I get to go into the dining room and eat the food she has dropped on the floor!
