Pet of the Month.

Keva January 2016

How did you come to live with your current family?

I was born with 10 brothers and sisters in Idaho. We were homeless and all the shelters in Idaho were full. My doggie mom, me and all my brothers and sisters were almost put to sleep. I love naps but this would have been a nap we did not wake up from. A nice lady named Pat who lives in Sedro Wooley and volunteers forthe Alternative Humane Society took us all in and kept us until we were old enough to go to homes of our own. My Mom and Dad were keeping their eyes open for a future trail dog since they live next to the Galbraith mountain biking trail and biking with a dog by their side is the best thing ever. I am a border collie lab mix so that seemed like a good fit. When I was only 3 weeks old, my Mom and Dad came to see all of us. I was the chubbiest puppy and my parents thought I would respond well to food based rewards. Boy were they right! They snapped a collar on me to claim me as a future McRyan and took me home when I was 9 weeks old.

What silly or little known facts should we know about you?

I love to climb on things! I used to climb over my puppy pen and I used to climb straight up our fence. My favorite place to hang out is on the back of the couch. I learned that from my kitty friend, Max.

Besides day care… what do you love?

I love to carry around blankets, I LOVE other dogs including my big brother and sister. I love to dig big holes in the yard. I also love hiking around Galbraith and can’t wait until this Spring when I can chase my parents on their bikes!

What are your favorite toys or games?

I like to run in circles in the yard really fast and leap over logs and ferns in the forest. I refused to do any of the obstacles in puppy kindergarten until the very last day when I completed the entire course. (Much to everyone’s surprise).

If you had a major in college…what would it be?

Professional trail guide

If you wrote a personal ad… what would it say?

Medium-size tan, female dog with a gentle spirit seeks companion to chase, play bitey face with and cuddle.

Other information we should know about you?

I don’t like my easy walk harness. My big sister doesn’t like her gentle leader so I guess I should be afraid of my harness too. I don’t like is so much that sometimes I hide under the bed and my Dad gives me lots of treats to get me to come out.
